Journaling Reads: If I SEE it, I must have it. Shoes, handbags, frames, bowls, shoes, linens, frames, handbags, shoes, eyeglasses, bowls, photography stuff, pens, the frames, shoes, purses, linens, shoes...I can't help myself sometimes. It gets ugly when i need a new pair of shoes and go shopping. Can i really walk away from the store with only one pair? can I actually buy maybe just two pair? do i really need a new purse? how many black ones do I already have? not enough. I have probably 10 pairs of black shoes and I still cannot find the righ one that goes with new green blouse and the black capris....300 thread count linens, coach handbags, platform peeptoe pumps, cool bowls from Pier One, capris and walking shorts photography magazines, lenses, filters & cameras, all indulgences I need.elements, flowers, realistic embellishments, frames, grungy stasmps, alphas, alphas, alphas....what more can i ask for? the crew gets to work with all the amazing designers at SBG and I still have to have more! What is a girl to do when she NEEDS to scrap?

Well, I'm terribly sorry that I'm so late in posting this challenge! I know there are many of you anxiously waiting for this new prompt and I have just been dealing with some serious back pain and haven't been able to sit long enough to get this posted.

My humble apologies! I do hope that you will still consider doing E is or Envy, because I know I cannot wait to see what each of you has in your hidden little treasure box full of surprises!

What are you envious of?

As an artist, do you wish to be like another? Is there a particular artist that you want to emulate? I know that for me, envy is a very powerful thing. I wish I could take photos like another, scrap like this or that artist. It's tough to work through.

In my life as an everyday person, envy takes over when I realize that my chances of another child are close to ending. Does this help me as an artist? Does envy have the power to intensify your creativity?

When you think of Envy, are you drawn to the color green? How do you express that envy?

Alphabet Shoot - C is for Colorful!!

Well, thank you everyone for such a continuously wonderful turnout to these fun challenges. I hope you are having as much fun as I am....I look forward to each and every letter that we get to create with!

This week we are on C....C is for COLORFUL.

We saw the artsy and b&w sides of you, now show us your colorful side(s).What part of you is the most colorful? Is it in the way you dress? Is it in the way you speak or communicate? Do you decorate your home with colorful elements? Maybe it's the color of your eyes and the way they see the world that you want to speak to.

Whatever it is, show us how colorful you and your world are!I love color! I love to play with color. I paint the walls in my house different colors, I use colored eyeshadows (not much, but I use them :0) ). Most of my photos are printed in color and a chosen few are only in B&W. Color is so cheerful, they put yellow on the walls of children's hospitals, because it brings joy to the sick children and doesn't seem as drab. McDonald's uses red & yellow because those colors are know for causing people to become hungry!

It's pretty incredible what color does for us, isn't it? Show us your colorful side....remember to include a picture of you!Post to the Alphabet Shoot Gallery when you're done!

Welcome back and thanks so much for trusting in this challenge! Your layouts have been just fantastic! We have so much creative juices flowing here @ Scrapbookgraphics, I am amazed each time I visit the galleries!

Are you ready to get started?!If you missed the first assignment (A is for Artist), have no fear! There is no "real" deadline! Jump on in, get your cameras out, take those self portraits and let loose. ALPHABET SHOOT Challenge at SCRAPBOOKGRAPHICS.COM

Come join us every other week starting January 7th. We'll be making an ABC/All About Me Book that has 26 points of us as an ARTIST.

We're all ARTISTS, yes we are! We create amazing things that people LOVE to look at and enjoy everyday, so why not celebrate that in a book created just for and about us and by us?

Every other Monday at Scrapbookgraphics, I'll be hosting a little challenge that we call Alphabet Shoot. It's easy; a photography challenge, an ABC book and an All About Me challenge combined to express our love of art and how we create it. And we're throwin' in a little therapy too!

I'll provide a prompt for the particular letter we're on and you create a page about you for that prompt. Week 1 will be The Artist - tell us about you, the artist. How did you get started scrapping, taking pictures, creating hybrid layouts, stamping, whatever! Tell us about YOU, the Artist! AND show us the artist!

The pictures you provide should be new ones....you can of course, use older ones or from your important times, but this book is to celebrate you at this time of your life....take those silly self portraits.

Hold out your arm and click away!

Stick out your tongue and cross your eyes!

Smile in the mirror and take that picture!

Have the gal doing your pedicure take a picture of you!

How about the hairstylist taking one too?

Seriously, where does it go? I cannot believe it has been almost a month since I've blogged. So much has been going on, it's crazy!

I've done a lot of new scrapbook pages. I'll post them below. Some new designers are available at Scrapbookgraphics.com and their stuff is awesome! We've had another family birthday party since the last post and I have pictures and layouts to post from that.

Well, since last month, I've completed my mock IVF cycle and had the endometrial biopsy. That was interesting. The cycle was much more aggressive than past cycles have been. The meds were WAY more intense. And the biopsy is going to tell if the meds are causing my lining to be at the right time for the cycle. That probably doesn't make much sense, but if my lining isn't timed properly, than it won't be receptive to embryos. If it's not receptive, I either won't achieve a pregnancy, or will become pregnant but could miscarry - as is what seems to have been happening.

If the lining is correct for the cycle, we really don't have much else to do. I also had a biopsy done at the same time for an expensive test called the EFT Endometrial Function Test. It's done at Yale University and will tell my Dr. if I have a specific integer (?) that causes miscarriages. If it comes out positive that I do have this, then we will be able to treat it with meds. Not the meds that I or Bob want, but it will work.

Everything else that has been tested or looked at is perfect. No problems or explanations as to why I'd suffer from recurrent miscarriages. We are firm believers that "everything happens for a reason", so we just have to see what will happen. If this is all meant to happen, than we deal with it as it happens. The most important thing is that we add to our family. How we do that will be determined soon enough. Until then, we keep on keepin' on!

So, Bob has been travelling quite a bit for work lately. He leaves on Sundays and returns on Tuesdays. He drives to Edina MN, which is about 6.5 hours from home. Pretty stressful, but he has to do it. I wish he didn't and I don't think he really wants to either but we don't have much choice.

Lately, when we hasn't had to travel we've been doing some really fun family things. We have more planned too and I'm looking forward to the day when he won't have to travel at all! Last weekend, we went to Cantigny. If you're not familiar with Cantigny, it's a gorgeous estate that has an old war museum and military vehicles throughout it's property. You can climb on the tanks, look up closely to them, and learn about what war they are from or how they were used. When we went, the Big Red Museum had an exhibit titled Requiem. It was wonderful and very emotional. The display was all photos from the Vietnam War. The photos were taken by journalists, photographers from Vietnam and America or England and France. The importance to these photos was that the photographers never returned from Vietnam. Their film and photos were returned for all of us to look at and learn from, but unfortunately, they were not remembered for their incredible contributions to history. The entire museum was very moving. If you live near this museum, you should try to visit - you'd really enjoy it.

This weekend, our Nephew's daughter turned 1 year old and they had a party for her. Friends and family were there to help them celebrate. Below are pictures from Cantigny and Scrapbook Layouts from the birthday party.

It's been so long since I posted last, I cannot believe how fast time goes by. My son was away for a week at summer camp. A totally cool camp, called CyberCamps! He learns how to create video games for PC and stuff like that! I'll add more to that later.

Now for the latest and greatest in photos of some ADORABLE little kiddies. My niece Angelina turned 3 this past week and this last weekend we had a nice party for her. Here are some layouts that show how adorable these little kiddies are in my family! I'm so lucky I hardly have to ask for a picture, they're all little posers and models to be.

I'll provide credits shortly with links to some fabulous scrapbooking sites.

I've also been asked to be on two more Creative Teams, I'll write up some information about those fabulous designers and showcase their terrific works in my next posting - which should be within the week!

Remembering Dagmar, My Mom - I miss you...

A year ago today, a mother lost her battle with cancer. She fought hard for the last three months she had. She lived a life that was full. She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved her husband. She set examples for us to learn from when we were young. She was raised by a hardworking German family that showed their love in different ways. She was a good mother and a good woman.

I miss you Mom. Remembering you today as you've been with God for a year, walking with Kevin, your brothers, and in-laws; living among the angels. We'll see you again some day. I know you are watching over us and I hope we are doing you proud.

May you rest in peace. I love you.

IVF Update...

Well, that last post kinda stunk....I guess I need to review some more things about creating your blog and how to align things correctly!

My apologies to Dana for not making this the most presentable descrption of her work. I'll have to add more and align them better very soon!

For now, I'm gonna update you lovely people on our IVF journey. Last month's transfer was yet another unsuccessful one. I'm a little bummed, considering it was the third one and 3rd times the charm, right? WRONG!!

Dr. Uhler suggested a surgical procedure to make sure that all I's are dotted and T's are crossed along with doing a mock cycle so that we can really make sure that next time is the winner. Let's hope it is! Keep all those fingers and toes crossed, August 2nd I have surgery and we'll see if all is good...

For those of you who might be interested in finding out more about some of the steps that women take while on the "Infertility" journey, take a look at this forum....It's got a lot of information for several different types of diagnoses and it might help you or someone you know understand how to deal with friends and family who go through these trials. I found this site when we realized that we weren't going to be conceiving without some medical intervention!

RESOLVE is also a great group to try and become a part of. They have local support groups throughout the US and educational programs are also available. It's cool, check it out too if you're interested. They're actually The National Infertility Association.

And last but not least, I'd like to give credit to a wonderful team of doctors and nurses who are fully supportive, extremely intelligent and famously knowledgable about infertility and how to cope with it. These are the people at FCI. Dr. Uhler, Dr. Beltsos, the nurses, laboratory and administrative staff are fabulous. If you need an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist), this is the place to go. Considering IVF? this is the place!

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I posted last. It's been hectic and crazy around here. Just a few things have been happening and I'm so excited to share them with you!

1. First of all, and what I am most excited about...June 27th we went for another IVF transfer and I'm feeling great. Slight cramping, VERY exhausted, sore from the injections, but positive that this time is the keeper. 3rd times the charm they say! We find out next Wednesday the 11th. I'm sure that will be a BIG posting when we get the positive sign! For now, I'll just keep working and keep my mind clear of wanting to POAS!! Hard to do, but this time I'm gonna make it!

2. I was selected to be Guest CT for TRACI REED!!! Yes, I know....she's awesome. Just as I was thinking that I really wanted to get into scrapping more and possibly learn more about the trade of designing, I found out how to apply for CT and who was looking for new members. Now, I almost missed the cut off for Traci, but she chose me for July as a guest to her CT Team and I couldn't be more excited. The 17 year CICADAS!!!

If you know about Cicadas, than you know that they are here. It's been 17 years and they are back. I remember them from the 70's, but I missed them when they returned in the 90's.

Their sound is so cool. They look neat with their shiny wings and red eyes. Not many fans around here for them, but we went and visited the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL the past week and saw them!!! How cool, there were millions of them. You couldn't even walk in the grass without crushing hundreds of them.

WOW! It's sure been awhile

Well, last time I wrote, I was still in the running for the Queen of the Crop 2007 at ScrapbookGraphics.com.

I won't be queen this year...sniff, maybe next year. The competition was stiff and what a great way for me to have my layouts seen. I was in competition with about 100+ other scrappers and by far I was not the most talented. The competition is still going on, it is in it's final week, but you can still vote for your favorite. Remember, every vote means dollars towards a chosen charity!

There will be more chances for me to be a queen at scrapping. I guess I'll just have to be content with being Queen of my Home!

Man have I been bad...

I'm sorry, no postings from me in a LONG time! It's been busy, I'm still trying to get used to working full time again. Seems like my days just fly by without much time for myself. Well, that will change. I'm starting to do more things for myself now and learning to enjoy them.

This morning, just after I got up, I went for a drive to a few wildlife reserve areas to get some new pictures. I didn't get anything good, but it was nice to just go and do something for myself.

This evening Bob and Riley have gone to a Chicago Fire soccer game with a friend. It's really nice. I've got the entire house to myself all night. Been scrappin' up a storm. No TV, No video games going, nothing but the sound of me typing away. Strange how I can enjoy that, huh? Well, I do.

I probably should have gone for a manicure/pedicure, but I wanted to get a few pages scrapped. I'm hoping to land a few Creative Team assignments. I'd love to be able to scrap for a few designers specifically. Especially the ones that I've applied to, their designs are awesome and I really use their kits alot!

We'll see. For now, here are a few new layouts I've done and some new pictures that I took recently.

The Start of New Week

Happy Monday!!

So, I've been working fulltime for 2 weeks now and I have to say, I'm really enjoying it. Granted, I don't have much time for scrapping and blogging, but I really enjoy being at work again. I've been lucky enough to get myself some cute new shoes to wear to work, some nice new clothes and a very good friend works at the same company. As a matter of fact, she referred me to the position that I'm working in now! Very nice!

I hope all of you Mom's out there had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday. My boys gave me a wonderful digital picture frame and I was busy getting that set up yesterday while we relaxed and hung out. It was cool. The frame accepts any memory card that you use for your digital camera and even a flash drive. Well, I also got a 4G flash drive. Even better...the frame will play music along with randomly flashing the pictures! Can you imagine?!!

So, I have TONS of pictures and TONS of mp3s on my flash drive and I just cannot wait to get a permanent desk at work so that I can play and display my new gift!!! It really is a cool idea, everyone should have one or two! And, no, I'm not exaggerating at all :-)

Here are a few new layouts, I was busy this past weekend trying to catch up on challenges and layouts. I've got so many new kits and goodies to use, I can't imagine how many more I'll have completed by week's end.

My Digital Muse is having a wonderful contest for their digital photographers. Now, I've not participated too much w/this awesome site, but have lurked for a LONG time and just had to get in on this challenge.

We were given 20 riddles to solve and then shoot photos of those items. Each item then had to be submitted in order to receive a prize. I think I got all the riddles right, and my photos are not the greatest, and I didn't take too much time doing this, so they're not my best - but I had a great time and realize that I really need to participate more at My Digital Muse.

Five Myths About Colon Cancer

Many times, colorectal cancer can be prevented; still, it's the second most common cause of cancer death among men and women in the United States.

Don't let these 5 common myths stop you from getting the lifesaving tests you need, when you need them.

Myth: Colorectal cancer is a man’s disease.
Truth: Colorectal cancer is just as common among women as men. This year, about 150,000 Americans will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and more than 55,000 will die from the disease.

Myth: Colon cancer cannot be prevented.
Truth: In many cases colon cancer can be prevented. Colon cancer almost always starts with a small growth called a polyp. If the polyp is found early, doctors can remove it and stop colon cancer before it starts.

Myth: African Americans are not at risk for colon cancer.
Truth: African-American men and women are diagnosed with and die from colon cancer at higher rates than men and women of any other US racial or ethnic group.

Myth: Age doesn’t matter when it comes to getting colon cancer.
Truth: More than 90% of colon cancer cases occur in people age 50 and older. For this reason, the American Cancer Society recommends you start getting tested for the disease at age 50. People who are at increased risk for colon cancer -- for example, those with a family history of the disease -- may need to begin testing at a younger age. You should talk to your doctor about your specific situation and when you should begin getting tested.

Myth: It’s better not to get tested for colon cancer because it’s deadly anyway.
Truth: Colon cancer is often highly treatable. If colon cancer is found early and treated, the 5-year survival rate is 90%. But because many people are not getting tested, only 39% of cases are diagnosed at this early stage when treatment is so successful.

I've got a job!!

Yep, I'm gonna be back to working full time again. No sense in not working and making money while I wait around for our IVF to work.....Why not work, make money, save money, save more money and prepare for those lovely little ones when I can? As Ellen Degeneres would say, "Am I right, Ladies?"

So, I start tomorrow as a buyer for insight. It's an entry level position, but one that can really be used as a stepping stone to further a career in the procurement industry. Not so sure if I want to grow my career, but getting back into the working world (and wearing cute shoes and nice new clothes!) is something that i think will help me in dealing with any disappointments in the IVF arena and also helps me feel like I'm contributing a little more than usual at home. It will be 5 years this June since I've worked full time! Wow, time has flown by!

So far the family seems OK with it. Today, I took most of the day to get the house ready for me to not be around all the time! Clean, laundry, straightening up, etc. And, I was able to go out and buy myself an awesome new pair of shoes - well, 2 awesome new pairs...I actually bought 3 pair, but I'm gonna return one of them.....during my lunch hour tomorrow! I will be working less than 1/2 mile from the local mall here, so I can definitely do shopping during a lunch break.

The other great benefit of this Insight location, is that it is less than 5 miles from my home. Isn't that great? I won't have to worry about getting home at a certain time, it's close to schools and grocery stores, etc. I can get a lot done during lunch, so I won't feel too overwhelmed by only having nights and weekends to do chores.

I don't get why I fret so much over getting things done. When I worked full time and had a child in daycare, I was so much more efficient with my time and didn't seem to be too overwhelmed. I mean I was overwhelmed just by life itself at the time, but doing all that needed to be done was easy enough. This should be easy too! Especially with helpful and supportive family this time around!

The only thing I think I will miss, is the fact that I can scrap all day now and I can take pictures all day too! I have been getting together with my Sister and Neice to do shopping or go to places and that will be missed in a BIG way, but we will always have holidays and weekends to do things. I'll get used to everything. And, I'll have more to blog about too!

I'm feeling like I have to be more pro-active about my volunteering. I have been challenged to consider a charity that I'd like to help out if I should win Queen of the Crop 2007. I chose the American Cancer Society.

Cancer has affected my family in many ways. Personally, I have seen it with friends, co-workers and family members, but it really hurts when you truly lose that person to the disease. Being a survivor is so awesome, I believe that someday we will have survivors of every form of cancer that there is. The only problem is, we need to support the American Cancer Society more so that the research can be done and cures can be found!

With that being said, I'm going to add little tidbits of information from the American Cancer Society's website on a daily basis in hopes that it might help someone one day or spread the word about how important it is that we help out the wonderful American Cancer Society.

Links to their site will always be provided, visit their site, see what you can do. It is only a little time in your life that you have to give....maybe no time at all, just a donation of some kind. Every little thing helps!!

Greek Chicken with Tomatoes, Peppers, Olives, FetaLemon, mint, and a garnish of crumbled feta cheese bring the flavors of Greece to this easy chicken dish.

If fresh Roma tomatoes aren't available, canned tomatoes will provide the same cancer-fighting nutrients and vivid color.

To make Greek seasoning salt, combine:2 teaspoons of garlic salt,2 teaspoons of lemon pepper,2 teaspoons of oregano, and2 teaspoons of dried mint.

Ingredients: 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, cut into bite-sized pieces. 1/4 cup flour. 8 teaspoons Greek seasoning salt, divided. 1 teaspoon olive oil. 1 large onion, sliced lengthwise. 1 green pepper, cored, seeded, and sliced lengthwise into strips. 3 Roma tomatoes, cut into eighths. 3 tablespoons Kalamata olives, chopped. 3 tablespoons feta cheese, crumbled.

Directions: Dredge chicken in flour mixed with 4 teaspoons of Greek seasoning. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add chicken, sautéing for 3 to 4 minutes until cooked through. Remove chicken from pan and set aside. Add onion to skillet and sauté until tender, about 2 minutes. Add bell pepper and cook another 2 minutes. Return chicken to skillet and cook 1 to 2 minutes, sprinkling with remaining Greek seasoning. Mix in tomatoes. Remove from heat, transfer to serving dish, and sprinkle with olives and feta cheese.

Serves eight.

Approximate per serving: 210 calories; 9.5 grams of fat

Rice with Orzo and Mint Orzo is tiny rice-shaped pasta that works well with the nutty flavor of the brown rice in this recipe.

Enjoy a cup of this flavorful side dish (cooked), and you'll need only two more servings of whole grain foods to meet American Cancer Society healthy eating guidelines.

Refined grains, such as white rice, lose much of their vitamins, minerals, and all of their fiber in processing.

Ingredients: 1/2 cup orzo. 1 teaspoon olive oil. 3 cups fat-free chicken broth. 1-1/3 cups uncooked brown rice. 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt. 3 tablespoons fresh mint.

Directions: In a medium saucepan on medium-high heat, brown orzo in olive oil, stirring constantly. Pour in chicken broth and bring to boil. Add rice and garlic salt and return to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 45 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in fresh mint.

Serves eight.

Approximate per serving: 149 calories; 2 grams of fat.

Linguine with Fresh Tomato and Basil Sauce

4 cloves garlic, minced. 2 tablespoons olive oil. 8 large fresh tomatoes, peeled, chopped, and seeded. 1/4 cup red wine. 1/2 cup chicken broth. 1/4 cup fresh basil or 1 tablespoon dried basil. Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste. 1 pound linguine, uncooked. 1 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated. Fresh ground pepper to taste. Red pepper flakes (optional).

Directions: Cook the garlic slowly in olive oil in a medium skillet. Do not brown. Add the chopped fresh tomatoes, wine, broth, and seasonings. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer uncovered 15 -20 minutes until the sauce thickens to the desired consistency. When you're ready to serve, cook the pasta in boiling salted water just until tender. Drain well, and toss with tomato sauce. Serve immediately in heated bowls or plates. Top each serving with Parmesan cheese, fresh ground pepper, and red pepper flakes.

Note: To peel fresh tomatoes, make a small cross slit at the bottom of the tomato. Plunge in boiling water for 5 seconds to loosen the skin.

Makes eight servings.

Each serving is 425 calories, 10 grams fat, 18 grams protein. For an extra 110 calories, add an extra 1/4 cup olive oil and another 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese to the recipe.

Creamy Chocolate Cheesecake with Sliced Strawberries

Ingredients: 1 cup nonfat plain yogurt. 4 ounces low-fat cream cheese. 1 cup part-skim ricotta cheese. 1 cup maple syrup. 3 tablespoons cocoa powder. 2 large egg whites. 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon. 1 teaspoon Kahlua. 1 pint strawberries. Nonfat cooking spray.

Directions: Preheat oven to 350º. Coat an 8 x 8-inch pan with nonfat cooking spray. Puree in blender the yogurt, cream cheese, ricotta cheese, maple syrup, cocoa, egg whites, cinnamon, and Kahlua. Pour in pan. Bake cake for 50 minutes or until done. Let cool and decorate with slices of strawberries.

Makes eight slices.

Approximately 98 calories per serving, and four grams of fat. Makes four servings. Each serving is 300 calories, 20 grams of protein.

Well, I'm not that great at keeping up my blog, but I'm back and posting some new photos and a layout or two that I've recently done.

Here are some of the latest pictures I've taken. I've also added them to my Flicker page. I'm really starting my photography hobby once again. I'd love to be able to sell my pictures on a freelance basis to small newspapers and maybe some larger ones too.

We saw the Kane County Cougars play Peoria Chiefs last week and the baseball photos below are from the game. I submitted some of them to the Geneva Sun, but received no response. I guess I should put together a portfolio of the different types of photography that I've been doing and see where that will get me. Tomorrow, I hope to be able to take another couple hundred photos as the weather is supposed to be beautiful! Maybe this week I'll take a small trip to the Chicago Botanical Gardens too, great floral photo opportunities there.

As part of the Queen of the Crop 2007 contest that I'm in at Scrapbookgraphics.com, I have to designate a charity that I would like to donate a winning dollar amount to. I'm a little torn as to what charity would be my first one, but both fall into one category and that is the American Cancer Society.

I lost my Mother to colon cancer last year, my Father suffers from bladder cancer and receives quarterly tests and treatments for it. My Grandfather on my Father's side died of colon cancer. My friend and past boss is a SURVIVOR of breast cancer and I have a family member who now is dealing with breast cancer.

Cancer has definitely affected my family, so if there is anything I can do to help in the fight against cancers or to help in the research for cures, than I need to do it. I'm going to do some serious research to present this charity to the scrappers at the contest and then I'm gonna do more to show that I can offer some of my time to this charity... in addition to monetary assistance, I think I have some time in my life that can be directed to this charity!

Well, I haven't blogged in a day or so, so I guess I'd better catch myself up. I work part time at Starbucks, and I just want to know WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO BE SO MEAN?

I mean, just because we work for starbucks and make your coffee, doesn't give anyone the right to 1. talk down to us, 2. treat us as though we are idiots and 3. act like we are your own personal slaves - just because you order a $5 drink doesn't mean you deserve service fit for a King or Queen!!!!

Grrrrr. Just had to get that off my chest. Some of our customers are just such PITAs....so much that I actually gave my notice yesterday and will no longer work for Starbucks after next week!!! Woo Hoo!!! I'm very relieved. Of course, I'll miss my friends there, but I'll stop in and visit when I can. I didn't drink Starbucks before I worked there, don't drink it now and I don't think I'll drink it afterwards either.

On to more fun stuff. I'm in a scrapbook competition. Through Scrapbookgraphics.com. They are having a pretty big contest and we have to market out work to get votes. I'm sure I won't be getting many votes, but the competition always tends to make be "step outside my box" and do something a little different. Here is one of my newest layouts using products by Sausan. She is an amazing designer, and I've been collecting some of her papers, kits, etc. over the last couple days and I have to say.....I'm addicted!

Rules:
- This competition is open to everyone with the exception of Scrapbookgraphics designers or crew members.
- Despite the title, this competition is not gender specific. In fact, if a man enters and wins we will gladly crown him “King” (if that is what he chooses).
- Layouts submitted to the competition should be created primarily with items designed by the Studio Girls at Scrapbookgraphics.Each registered participant will receive a 25% off Discount Card to SBG.
- Layouts must meet the criteria of our challenges and must be submitted by deadlines, no exceptions.

Week 1:
Challenge - My Many Faces or Moods
Introduce us to the main character in your story. Create a layout that shares something about at least two (more if you like) very different facets of your personality or moods of expression.

Week 3:
Challenge - The Ordinary and the Every Day Moments
Sometimes we trick ourselves into believing that nothing special or interesting is happening in our lives. Linda Woods & Karen Dinino suggest in their book Visual Chronicles, an exercise to help us to see the every day moments with a fresh perspective. Imagine if you will that you are an alien that has suddenly inhabited your body and it is your duty to observe and report your experience. Share an every day moment, your regular routine, or something you might normally deem too ordinary to mention.Inspiration:

Challenge - A Shift in Perspective
Shift your perspective and look at yourself through the eyes of another person. The other person could be a child, a parent, a friend, etc. What do you see? Scrap it.

How to Submit Layouts: When submitting layouts, please Save for Web (72dpi) and submit a 600 x 600 .jpg, a 300 x 300 .jpg and a 150 x 150 .jpg for each layout.With each submission, please include credits and any description you wish to add. We would also be interested in your creative process if you are able to share that with us. Email all layouts submitted before the weekly due dates by email to: queencrop-contest@scrapbookgraphics.com - PLease do NOT post your layouts anywhere else until after they appear on our site.
All contestants will be subscribed to a special contest mailing list so that any questions you may have through out the contest can be answered by our administrative staff. You will also be free to discuss amongst yourselves on this forum.

Each layout submitted for voting will be placed in a special Queen of the Crop Studio in our store, exactly the same way our products are posted. Voters will select the layout they believe to be the best that week, and will click to purchase. Each vote will cost $2.00. In exchange for their vote, all voters will receive an extremely generous surprise Loot Bag package of fresh exciting graphics and goodies created especially for this purpose by a select group of Studio Girls. No matter who the customer votes for that week, the purchase will include the same Loot Bag. However, each week when the layouts change, a new Loot Bag will be attached to the $2 vote, with elements created by a different group of Studio Girls designers.

$2.00 gets the customer one vote for the week and that week’s value packed Loot Bag contents.

Campaigning is allowed and encouraged. Be sure to campaign for votes for your layouts as well as the charity you are Scrapping on behalf of.

Campaign blinkies will be provided, and you are free to make your own to pass out to friends in the community.

Please note that all taxes owing on cash awards are the sole responsibility of the contest winner.

IVF - Invitro Fertilization

Well, I'm sad to say, but I'm no longer a fertile woman. Or, at least, I can't get pregnant on my own....I need some help.

My body still seems to function like a woman's. All those lovely monthly "things" that we as women experience. I get to enjoy the monthly visitor, the exciting mood swings and skin changes that come with it. I also get to gain a few (or 10lbs) pounds a month! What a lucky gal I am!!

My DH and I have been ttc (trying to conceive) for almost 3 years now. We got pregnant and miscarried in 2003, that is what lead us to learn about our fertility or lack thereof! First we tried the whole temping and monitoring of my cycle. I charted, tempted, check my cervical mucus (such a gross word, isn't it?) daily and even noted the color and consistency of it! YUCK!! Don't ask me how you check it, it wasn't the most exciting thing to do, but we thought that would work.

After that didn't work for us, we sought out the assistance of our OB/GYN and the drug CLOMID. Now, Clomid makes women ovulate more than one egg a month. That's exciting. Since we are born with say 100,000 eggs; and we shed one a month (at the minimum) during our menstrual cycle, and we NEVER make more, we women will eventually run out of GOOD EGGS. When we start to run out of good eggs, we have fertility problems and have a difficult time getting pregnant Naturally. If clomid doesn't help, we just don't have enough eggies of our own to make that little bundle of joy!

Well, that's where we are at now. I didn't have enough quality eggs any longer. I wanted to have a baby and I wanted a baby RIGHT NOW!!

So, it just wasn't going to happen w/out some kind of help. Clomid was our first attempt at getting some extra eggies of mine to mature and fertilize by my DH's little swimmers...

After three rounds of Clomid, 15lbs and no pregnancy, we had to move on. During the clomid time, we were instructed to "do it" every other day; until an ultrasound, when we were told by the doctor to DO IT and DO IT NOW!!!!! It got to be a little stressful, "performing" on demand and not enjoying the deed any longer. Plus, it never worked!!

Now, we do have a son.....a wonderful boy who is just about 13. We are truly blessed by that and if that is all we get, it probably would be enough. It just makes a couple feel REALLY great to know that they can make a baby together and add to their family. It makes the MAN in the family really feel good and know that his swimmers are of GREAT quality!! That's important - we're not greedy, we would like a bigger family....and we are willing to work at it.

So, that's how it started.....I'll move on to the next step of infertility when I post again.....have I got ya hooked?

Whoo Hoo!! I've gotten started with a blog! I've been saying I wanted to start a blog to focus on my challenges and blessings; and lo and behold......I've gone and done it!!

WOW!!! I feel like I have my own little corner on this big 'ol world wide web.

This blog will have all the little and big scraps of my life. Scrapbooking (digitally), Family Events & fun times, my Weightloss journey and our IVF trials and tribulations.

I'm not much of a writer, but I love to journal and it is an amazing way to see how much we have in life to be thankful for. Maybe I can help out someone with IVF questions, scrapbooking ideas or being here to listen to.

I'll be adding posts and goodies weekly - maybe daily! Who knows, everyday is a new day. I'm enjoying each as they come along.

I hope I enjoy doing this as much as I think I will.
